Farewell Goldie!

Valentine’s Day the 14thof February is a day set aside for love globally. Yesterday’s celebration of this love day was indeed very eventful even though I was in a makeup update training all day; there was still love in the air all around me.

The day was almost coming to an end when I read of the famous South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius who shot his girlfriend claiming that he thought she was a burglar, the news really baffled me and got me thinking how this golden boy had moved from fame to shame.
I finally got home and settled down to enjoy a romantic evening with my hubby when the news of Goldie’s death broke. I paid no attention to it as I thought it was
the usual hoax that came with ills of our ever reliable social network. The news continued to trend until I read Mr. Kenny Ogungbe’s (President, Kennis music) release on the matter:
On behalf of Kennis music, I’m sad to officially confirm the shocking and untimely passage of Nigeria’s pop star, Goldie Harvey. With a deep sense of loss, we announce the death of our darling music star. Goldie 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache at her Parke view Ikoyi residence shortly after her arrival from the United states were she went to witness the Grammy award. She was rushed to her official hospital, Reddington Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance Goldie passed away , the abundance of talent……..

……..the remains of Goldie who hails from Ekiti state has been deposited in the mortuary of the Lagos University Teaching hospital Ikeja………”

Goldie as we know her
I was shocked to my bones as I had a few personal encounters with this wonderful lady; she was full of energy and was very assertive. I know there will never be a time that I can make her face up again of course unless we are allowed to that in the great beyond.
Sleep well my friend, we love you but God loves you more, Rest in Peace Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey.
Till my next post,
Much Love ,
